ROBERT MARINO ARCHITECTS
WITH RICHARD GAREY, R.A.

Robert Marino, architect, engineer, and teacher has built an amazing array of residential projects in the New York City metropolitan area. Understood individually, each project presents itself as a unique architectural proposition; understood as a body of work, the common themes within various projects begin to appear. While he has many intuitive tools at his disposal, his projects always begin with the potential for unencumbered structure to be the best means for architectural expression. Robert Marino Architects is located in the landmarked Starrett-Lehigh Building in Midtown Manhattan.

PROPOSED HOUSE PLANS
Lot #19
Located on a wooded ledge, this picturesque home site provides views towards the South and West. The curved main living space takes advantage of this orientation. It is located on the top floor, which is the main entry level. Sleeping quarters are on the lower level. Three solid stone fireplaces literally anchor the house to the site. The one on the North side of the house is rectangular and begins the entry sequence. Twin triangular fireplaces frame the entry axis and support the umbrella roof structure, allowing the sweeping South vista. The South facing curving glass wall is glazed to the ceiling. It is protected in the Summer by the large overhang of the umbrella roof. In the Winter the lower sun angle helps heat the interior.
